CIRENCESTER

Cirencester is a historic Roman town in the county of Gloucestershire.

This beautiful, ancient town has the most traditional English architecture.

ROYAL AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE

The Royal Agricultural College is the location of our Cirencester summer school.

It is located in one of the most beautiful settings in the country, just 2km outside of Cirencester.

The main building is famous, not just for its beautiful, but also because it is styled like an Oxford college.

Facilities include three computer rooms, new lecture theatres and a grand dining hall.

The small campus encourages a strong sense of community among the students and staff.

The rural location makes it an ideal location for groups of younger students.

Food at the centre has also earned a good reputation among students, group leaders and staff alike – which is remarkable for English cuisine!

Cirencester has been running for 18 years, and is one of the most requested colleges.

ENGLISH CLASSES

The academic staff can cater for beginners, including students as young as 8.

Also, as with all our UK centres:

+ Cirencester is accredited by the British Council.
+ Classes have a maximum of 16 students.
+ ESL teachers meet British Council UK guidelines, and have been chosen for their qualification, commitment, attitude and communicative ability.
+ Cirencester has a Director of Studies (DoS) who manages the teachers and guarantees that the syllabus is maintained.
+ All DoS’s are English language professionals, recruited for their higher qualifications, extensive experience and suitability to managing large vacation programmes
+ Cirencester has a syllabus and materials that ensure that students learn about topics that are interesting for them and relevant to their lives.
The syllabus is tied to the European Union’s Common European Framework.

ACTIVITIES

The Tithe Barn is a 16th-century farm building housing the student common room. It is used for many of our evening activities.

In addition, there are various lecture theatres for film nights, and a Boutflour Hall, which is used for our discos and talent shows.

At all of our centres, there is a comprehensive activity program. Evening activities include:

Karaoke nights.
Discos.
Talent show.
Casino night.
X-Factor night.
Performing arts classes.
Mini Olympics.
Sports tournaments.
Sports facilities include a gym, various outdoor pitches, tennis courts, a flood lit Astroturf pitch, and a cricket green.

In addition, as you will have seen in our Course Outline, we have regular project clubs for students that want more academic activities focused on English language improvement.
