Exploring English Country Houses
Description:
Elizabethan courtiers built houses of great theatricality, vigour and luxury. Their ideas were taken from the medieval past, fashionable classical antiquity and modern European design books. Their visual world consisted of colour, texture, display, lineage and allegory. During this summer school we’ll discover the architecture and furnishings of the Elizabethan country house.
