Since 1845 Heatherleys School Of Fine Art has acted as a stepping stone for many great artists. Famous alumni include Burne Jones, Rossetti, Millais, Lord Leighton, Russel Flint and Sickert as well as the first Principal of the Slade School of Art, Sir Edmund Poynter and the first Principal of the Royal College of Art, Walter Crane.
Heatherleys School Of Fine Art was one of the first colleges to accept women and men on an equal footing and this forward thinking, inclusive attitude has been influential upon the innovative nature of much of the work produced here. In the past, the school has taken on students from the ages of 12 to 80+. Musicians, writers, politicians and movie stars alike have all featured as past students at Heatherleys.
What's on offer
Nowadays at Heatherleys School Of Fine Art , one-to-one attention from the tutors in the classroom allow students to improve their artistic abilities and enable them to achieve their goals as practising artists. Constant and dedicated attention provides an atmosphere in which students can gain confidence and flourish.
Courses include, portraiture, figurative sculpture, watercolour, oil painting, drawing and ceramics.
