A summer school for young musicians at Grades 4+, age 11-17
Each day you will take part in instrumental workshops, benefit from personalised guidance and experience singing, musicianship and ensemble music playing, with performance opportunities on a professional concert hall stage. In one fun, energised week, you’ll discover more about life as a musician and learn how to take your playing to the next level.
With an illustrious team of tutors, you will be conducted by Elizabeth Vergara Gallego and Chetham’s Director of Music, Tom Redmond. Singers will be coached by Marcus Farnsworth and Libby Burgess, whilst pianists will be led by Lulu Yang.
You’ll play pieces such as Dvorak’s Symphony No 8, Coleridge Taylor’s 4 Characteristic Waltzes, Witter-Johnson’s Fairtrade, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite, Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Marquez’s Danson no 2 and Moncayo’s Huapango.
After the music stops each evening, stay in our purpose built boarding facilities, with plenty of fun activities, games and shared experiences with Chetham’s caring team of staff. Non-residential places are also available.
