BKA International Summer School
Description:
The BKA International Summer School provides training in musicianship, classroom teaching, conducting, choral singing, and in some years, the application of the Kodály concept to instrumental tuition. It is a perfect introduction to all aspects of teaching and learning music using principles advocated by the inspiring Hungarian musician and educator, Zoltán Kodály. Tuition is given by leading experts in the field of music education from Britain and Hungary.
The Summer School is open to anyone interested in developing their own musical capability and, if a teacher, in using Kodály-related ideas in their teaching. Classes are available for the complete beginner (for example, students with no formal music training) through to professional musicians and teachers who are looking for new insights to further their expertise in using the Kodály Approach.
Two courses of study will be available at the Summer School in 2011 – a general study programme open to all or the Springboard Certificate programmes accredited by Roehampton University (NVQ4 OR NVQ 7 equivalent). The general and the certificate programmes will overlap in the morning sessions when all students will attend classes in musicianship using relative solfa, vocal warm-ups and choral activities. The afternoon sessions will be specific to the chosen programme and will include an opportunity for optional individual singing tuition and another activity.
