Songwriting Summer School
Summer Songwriting course for young people taught by experts from the music industry
Songwriting is the backbone of the music industry. In the Songwriting Summer School you spend a weekend in the studio with a professional songwriter who has worke with the likes of Jamelia, Bob Marley, Cher Lloyd and the Sugababes. You'll learn how contemporary songs are put together and what makes them successful. If you want to write songs and make a living from your music, then it's essential that you have an understanding of music theory, composition, lyric-writing and arrangement techniques. In this fun, practical course you will be taken through the process and finish up by recording a song in a professional recording studio which you get to keep! Age Range: 14 to 19

Former Point Blank student and BBC Radio 1 & Channel 4 presenter Gemma Cairney had this to say:

"I can definitely say without the intensity and professionality of the course and tutor I would never have had the skills, knowledge or even guts to approach Channel 4 in the first place."

The course takes place the weekend of August 15th. Please call for more details. To check out Point Blank’s facilities and to chat first hand with a trained course advisor, book your place on the studio tour which takes place every Wednesday at 5:30pm and Saturday at 12:30pm.
